The Power of Choice

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

You have value. In fact, you are priceless. Do you realize there is only one of you in the entire world? You are unique, beautiful, and special. Think about that. Remind yourself of that as often as possible.

Our own self-esteem, our identity, our self-worth, and our values are pillars of who and what we are. Without them, our foundation becomes weak, and we begin to wobble. Going through life with a shaky foundation is not a good way to live.

You can never be comfortable, and you can never operate from a position of strength.   Because there is always nagging doubt and a lack of self-confidence. The good news, however, is that this is an area of our life we can control.

This is much easier for some than for others. Our own history and life occurrences are powerful influences and years of negative messaging can drag a person down. How do we overcome the negative images? How do we escape the paradigm that tells us we are somehow less?

Short answer:  We humans have the ability to “choose”.

You can choose to tell yourself you are valuable, capable, and strong.

You can choose to shut off the noise and refuse to let the past drown out the future.

You can choose to not associate with people who are negative and tear you down.

You can choose to be real and to not give a damn what other people think.

These are mental muscles that need to be exercised and flexed and trained, so that your positive self-image is strong and that your value system is not tied to what other people think of you.  It takes practice.

Keep our concerns limited to what we can control.  And we can learn to love and appreciate who and what we are.

A Life Coach can help in these areas. You can operate from a solid foundation, from a position of strength and self-confidence. And focus your precious energy on things like self-care, creativity, expansion, compassion, love, and growth.
